Day 194. Is It Him?

Writing has been my best form of therapy since starting my journey through recovery. That being said, I’ve neglected it a lot lately apart from small bits and pieces here and there. The reason for turning back to the pen at this particular moment in time? I think he’s coming (Kujo). I think I’m on the way down, I’ve been able to tell before and sometimes I’ve been gratefully wrong. I certainly hope that’s the case now because these are important and exciting times.

I’m well overdue for another 12 rounds with demon dog and every time we grapple I come away more experienced, having learnt new lessons but also more drained emotionally because I fight harder with new found knowledge. For the moment distraction is key, the problem with distraction is that when the black fog eventually wraps you up, it can be a bit of a surprise and I can hit the pit bottom hard. At the same time, no distraction leads to over thinking, equally as dangerous, possibly leading to those unwanted nasty thoughts again. So, I’m turning my hand back to getting my thoughts out in to black and white in a bid to both distract and clear my mind. It may work, but I’ll never know if I don’t try.Writing has been my best form of therapy since starting my journey through recovery. It’s been an amazing few weeks since I last went down. I’ve had the awesome pleasure of being involved with M.I.N.T, Men In Need Together and the great honour of bringing M.I.N.T to Weymouth. This project has filled me with a sense of pride I haven’t felt in years and an excitement I haven’t felt since Christmas as a small child. Especially having so much community and online support for the group. The uptake for the group so far and at the first meeting has been nothing short of brilliant. As for the men who attended the first meeting, well, wow…A truly inspiring show of courage as each man spoke of his own troubles and demons in the company of others in similar difficulties. A great show of support all round. #DontManUpSpeakUp

Right now, I have one goal in mind and that’s to pick the right permanent venue. I’m taking my sweet time over it though because it has to be perfect and I don’t want to have a repeat of what’s already happened and be messed around. This project is far too important and too close to many hearts. We’ve overcome the obstacles and thrived in the face of adversity to keep on track and will continue to do so, for men to have the arena and support needed to not man up but Speak Up!

I don’t know if Kujo has enough to come after me right now, with all of this passion running through my veins, but as always, once I know it’s definitely him biting at my heals, there’ll be an epic scrap and I’ll win, just the same as always.
